
My Story
Baking & cooking has always been in my DNA! When I was young, I baked cookies for my older brothers when they were in college. But they insisted I make an extra batch just for them, because they would come home from practice and find their roommates had devoured them all! Soon after, I was making family meals while my mother tended to my uncle after work, as he was in the hospital battling cancer. Someone had to cook, and it was a great feeling that I could somehow contribute to our family. Much later in life, I learned to cook Thanksgiving dinner all from scratch as a thank you to my Mom for doing it for so many years – and to my parents as a whole for being such outstanding teachers in my life. Now, my family and friends joke by February if Thanksgiving was coming anytime soon, so they could enjoy all the yummy assortments as soon as possible.
My slogan “This Is Better” isn’t just some catchphrase. It comes from the people I’ve baked and cooked for, and this is in their words: “I’ve had this before – but you did something different. This is better”. I love that! To put my artisan craft into the food I create and the feeling I get seeing the euphoric reaction from someone is why I do this! I take the bones of a recipe and strive to make it better through meticulous selection of the best ingredients and put my gourmet interpretation of every detail into it. And now I share my baked goods with all of you. Today, I’ve created a small, woman-owned Artisan cottage food business, where everything is made to order from fresh ingredients. Right now, I’m limited to selling & shipping treats only within my home state of Florida—for now. But give me some time and I’ll break it wide open to the masses eventually. Welcome to Gourmet Oven!
